Saint James Honors and Congratulates Retiring Teachers

first_imgNewly retired Saint James teachers are from left – Ann Fitzgerald, Susan Walsh, Marsha Walsh, and Neil Fitzpatrick.ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – Saint James School students celebrated the final weeks of school with sadness and joy; wishing four beloved teachers farewell as they retire while celebrating the end of the school year with parties and graduations.The teachers, called strong pillars of the elementary school with unwavering loyalty, patience, faith, and commitment to education, had more than 100 years of service to Saint James.Susan Walsh has taught math, algebra, and religion at Saint James School for 11 years while also serving as a homeroom teacher. She has been one of the forces behind the school’s performing arts drama program, always encouraging students to explore and develop their potential.Marsha Walsh has taught at Saint James School for 28 years, first as a kindergarten teacher, then as a first grade teacher and most recently, as a resource teacher. Walsh also was the coordinator for the extended-day program for 10 years. She has always patiently guided young students on their learning journey.Neil Fitzpatrick has taught music to students in preschool to eighth grade at Saint James for 31 years. Fitzpatrick has played either the piano or organ for all religious services, Christmas shows, and also moderated the school’s choral club.Ann Fitzgerald has taught at Saint James School for 38 years. She has taught grades 5-8 and has been an algebra teacher. She also taught math lab and high school prep and has served as technology coordinator.last_img
