How’s that for a main living area. 274 Simpsons Road, Currumbin WatersNESTLED among the bushland at Currumbin Waters is this contemporary multi-story home.It feels like it is a world away from civilisation but the property at 274 Simpsons Rd is just minutes from the shops, the Gold Coast Airport and beach. Gold Coast architect Shane Denman designed and built the five-bedroom home.He and his wife, Rosslyn Abernethy, have lived in it for the past 12 years. The main entrance to 274 Simpsons RoadHe said the surrounding bushland gave it a peaceful ambience. “In the bushland, there’s koalas and kangaroos, it’s beautiful,” Mr Denman said.It was hard to choose but Mr Denman said the chef-style kitchen with top of the range fixtures and fittings and wide stone benchtops was his favourite part of the home.“My wife and I love cooking so we love the kitchen,” he said.“But we do just enjoy the whole house really.”He said they would miss the home but it was much to big for them now.They were planning on downsizing into a new home that they will build. Even the kitchen at 274 Simpsons Road has a view.An office space is dedicated to the top floor, which is surrounded by windows that frame the treetops and sweeping vistas.The home also has a separate family room and retreat as well as a pool on the middle level and a double garage.Mr Denman said it was a complicated home to build but it was worth it.“It was a hard site, a very steep site, but we made it work,” he said.“It probably took us about 12 months to do all the design work and then 12 months to build it.“It’s quite a detailed house.”Except for repainting about six months ago, Mr Denman said it had aged well without having to upgrade anything.
