PREMIERE: The Delta Saints Pay Tribute To David Bowie In A New Single Off Their Upcoming Album

first_imgThe five-piece rock outfit The Delta Saints is releasing a new album titled Monte Vista on April 28th. Melding psychedelia with Bayou blues and raw rock sounds, the ten-track album, produced by Eddie Spear (Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, Neil Young) is an anthemic yet lyrical follow-up to their 2015 album Bones. Featuring Ben Ringel (vocals & guitar), Dylan Fitch (guitar), David Supica (bass), Vincent “Footz” Williams (drums), and Nate Kremer (keyboards), The Delta Saints’ new album is an exploratory coming-of-age collection, ruminating on life, love, and age through their exacting lyrics paired with their rock-rooted sensibilities. To preview Monte Vista, which is due out next week, The Delta Saints have been kind enough to share with us a new single off the album called “Spaceman.” The track is a tribute to the late David Bowie. Frontman Ben Ringel elaborates: “I wrote Spaceman a few days after David Bowie passed away. I’d always been a casual Bowie fan, but had never dove head first into his body of work before. I spent the next few days with his music and was so struck by the sheer expanse of his creativity. He just did exactly what he wanted to do, when he wanted to do it. He got weird when the spirit moved him, then he would write a heart wrenching ballad, then an 80’s dance tune, and then a dark modern sounding record like Blackstar. He was this super rare form of devil-may-care brilliance, and the weight of someone like him no longer creating and representing that attitude was just heavy. A few days later, I was sitting in my apartment, and this song just started coming out. It was one of those really magical moments, where a song just comes out of nowhere, and you just try to keep up and get it all down before it evaporates.”You can listen to the Live For Live Music premiere of “Spaceman” below.
