Vancouver police say 2 burglars may be targeting Mexican restaurants

first_imgVancouver police are asking for the public’s help in identifying burglary suspects who they believe have been targeting Mexican restaurants along the Interstate 5 corridor.Officers responded to a burglary at Muchas Gracias, 5207 E. Mill Plain Blvd., on Dec. 15, according to a Vancouver Police Department press release. An investigation found the suspects had pried open a door and stole several thousand dollars in cash.A similar burglary was reported at the same business in October 2017, police said.Detectives compared other similar crimes and concluded that multiple incidents involving businesses along I-5 and in the Portland metropolitan area are likely part of a series of burglaries, police said.“The targeted businesses appear to primarily be Mexican restaurants, with the thief breaking a window, entering through the drive-through window or prying doors to gain access to the building,” police said. The police department has shared an image of one of the suspects captured by a surveillance camera.Detectives said there are likely two people involved. They may be driving a silver sedan of an unknown make. The image provided by police shows a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt with his face partially obscured by a baseball cap.Anyone with information on the identity of either of the suspects, or with information about these burglaries, is asked to contact Vancouver Police Detective Zachary Ripp at 360-487-7391.last_img read more
