Mrs Browns Boys the most watched programme in the UK on Christmas

first_imgBRENDAN O’CAROLL’S Mrs Brown’s Boys has beaten Downton Abbey, Dr Who and the soaps to top the UK’s Christmas TV ratings.The sitcom, based around O’Carroll’s character Agnes Brown, pulled in an average audience of 9.4 million viewers on BBC One last night.The Christmas special, which is being broadcast in two parts was filmed in May of this year, in order to free the cast and crew up for a Mrs Brown film, due to be released next summer.Dr Who came second in the ratings with an average of 8.3 million viewers, although it did win the biggest peak audience with 10.2 million tuning in at one point.Last year Mrs Brown’s Boys topped the Irish Christmas Day ratings, pulling in almost a million viewers.An RTÉ spokesperson has told that viewership figures for the Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas Special in Ireland will be available tomorrow.Every episiode of Mrs Brown’s Boys perfectly summed up>7 Irish people who lost the ‘Bridesmaids v The Dark Knight’ battle last night>last_img read more
