A father has described how he used his shoelaces to tie his newborn baby’s umbilical cord after she arrived sooner than expected in the back of a car.Paul Doherty was taking his wife Georgina to hospital in Londonderry, northern Ireland, when she asked him to pull over.He was talked through the birth by emergency services, and had nothing but his shoelace to tie the cord with.
