Premier Congratulates Nova Scotia Medalists

first_imgPremier Darrell Dexter today, Feb. 18, congratulated Team Nova Scotia gymnasts Jared Goad and Stephen Clouter on capturing the province’s first medals of the Halifax 2011 Canada Games. “What an amazing moment for Nova Scotia,” said Premier Dexter. “I can only imagine how these two young men felt standing on the podium in front of a roaring hometown crowd. They have worked so hard to get to this stage, and they performed when it really mattered. “Congratulations to Jared and Stephen on a fantastic showing. You have made your province proud.” Jared was the first to medal Thursday evening when he performed a near-perfect routine in the floor exercise event at the Canada Games Centre. The 17-year-old from Bible Hill took top honours, the province’s first gold medal at a Canada Games since 2003. Stephen, 14, from Lawrencetown, won bronze a short time later in the parallel bars event.last_img read more
